Re-engaging Students Who Have Left School during COVID-19

Mar 25, 2021; 3:00 PM

Over the past year it has become increasingly evident that COVID-19 has caused huge changes in learning and family life. Increased mobility and family economic hardship - along with drastic changes to learning environments - has caused more youth than usual to leave school before graduating. Join America’s Promise and National League of Cities on March 25 from 3:00-4:30 PM ET in a conversation with young people and community leaders from around the country exploring promising strategies for re-engaging students who have left school without graduating due to the challenges presented by the pandemic.

In this conversation, panelists will explore:

- Sizing the issue, including tracking, measuring and understanding absenteeism and engagement data during this complex time;
- New practices for what re-engagement has looked like in specific communities; and
- Ideas for prioritizing re-engagement in this and next school year
