This training for providers and community partners will focus on using a health equity lens to build knowledge and practice-based strategies to improve service delivery for diverse populations that experience substance use issues and disorders. Populations with high prevalence and mortality rates due to substance use disorders (SUDs) can be a significant challenge for local communities to serve. By understanding the underlying issues that often contribute to SUDs and demographic characteristics that may contribute to stigma and discrimination, providers and practitioners can better tailor strategies to meet the needs of special populations including child welfare-involved families, youth in juvenile detention, and pregnant women.
