Depression is often stigmatized, hushed, or ignored, even though many of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ suffer from it. Those who wrestle with depression know the struggle is very real and often very lonely. October is Depression Awareness Month, and guests Rev. Todd Peperkorn and Dr. Bev Yahnke talk about dealing with depression from a Lutheran worldview. Rev. Peperkorn and Dr. Yahnke cover issues such as coming to terms with a mental illness, assumptions society has about those who suffer from mental illness, resources that are available, and how a church family can support both church workers and fellow parishioners who suffer from mental illness.
