Where do I go for mental health help? I don’t even know where to start.
I’m afraid to share my mental health struggles.
These are just a few of the statements LookUp strives to address. Back in 2013, we knew there was a problem. Hoosiers reported not knowing where to go for mental health help and they feared the stigma that surrounded mental health issues. In response, The Lutheran Foundation launched LookUp in February 2016 as a “one stop shop for better mental health.”
Since then, we’ve served more than 44,000 users, connecting them with mental health resources. We’ve had text or online chats with more than 25,000 users, many of them youth. We’ve expanded our Find Help directory to cover all 92 counties in Indiana. We’ve published 181 blog posts, 15 newsletters, and reached hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers through online advertising reminding them there is hope and help available. We’ve provided invaluable resources for schools through the Indiana School Mental Health Initiative and connectivity to communities through System of Care.
We haven’t done it alone. We are so grateful for our many partners, RemedyLIVE, the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University, Indiana System of Care, Just Sue Graphic Design, Brand Innovation Group, CodeClouds USA, the Regional Mental Health Coalition of Northeast Indiana, and all the countless individuals who have helped write content, vet content, encourage and support us. THANK YOU! Together, we are starting the conversation on mental health and silencing the stigma.
2019 is off to a great start with many great things to come. We can’t wait to share them with you!
As always, thank you for joining us in talking about mental health. If you feel alone and need to talk, we’d love to start a chat online or text LOOKUP to 494949.
